Feeling Good!

Felt great to be back in the classroom today after being gone for the SLATE 2013 convention and then to recuperate from being sick. Lots of hand washing today :)  The students and I were all excited to open the extreme amount of mail we had.  After the students each opened one we shared the card and message with the entire class.  The Holiday Card Exchange cards are on display on our classroom door for all to observe.

The children have earned four classroom incentives for showing positive school wide behavior. Tomorrow is BRING YOUR FAVORITE STUFFED ANIMAL DAY!  So everyone remember there furry friend.

Also parts were assigned and highlighted for this Friday's Poetry Cafe and Tea.  The students should practice their poems especially their parts in preparation for Friday.  They have been working diligently in the classroom with focus on accuracy, rate and fluency.

Finally we are staring a new chapter in Math - Place Value.  Many important vocabulary words game home today to help build the understanding of this chapter.

See you all on Friday!

Also, the students in my classroom will be drawing names within our classroom and choosing gifts from “Mrs. Lieck’s Christmas Store”.  The items in the store are donated items to share with all of the children.

My Penguin Osbert Helps Us Write Letters to Santa

Today I read the story My Penguin Osbert by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel and the students found the temporal words within the story to help them sequence the events of the story.  After they shared with their friends about what they remembered about Last Year .. the students began to write their own Small Moment as it related to this Christmas time.  The concentration, thought, and content that they displayed was outstanding. Looking forward to tomorrow's lesson.
