Go Bat!

Fun Sight Word Game

We have been working with words in our reading and writing.  Tomorrow I am sending home a game I created for the kids to have fun learning our sight words.  We call it Go Bat! Click on this link to see the game:

You can play this game similar to Go Fish or you could play Concentration or a Matching Game with these sight words.

I have also put these words on my Spelling City site.  Spelling City provides free educational activities to have fun learning words.  Follow the link below to my site:

Bats Day and Night

Reading Informational Text
Today the students continued to read the text Bats Day and Night, found on Reading A-Z, to find out what bats do at different times of the day and night.

After reading the story the students matched the text to the illustrations and then sequenced the events of the story.

They also are having fun with our new song "Vowel Bat"!  Have they been singing it at home tonight?

My Students Love Wordless Books!

How Do You Read a Book?

The students have been looking closely at the illustrations to better understand and retell the story.  They have also been engaged in shared writing activities to add words to match the illustrations.
Reading A-Z offers students and teachers many choices of wordless books to excite and empower students.

The book we have been working on this week is Games We Play.  Every student was able to make a connection to the story and share that connection with others.  Then we added the words just like an author would do.  Their eyes lit up when I told them they were going to be authors!

KINDERGARTEN IS AMAZING!

It was fun to practice our Reader's Theater wearing our favorite hats today :)

Plus that hats helped us build amazing things.

Sharing Text to Self Connections with a Moment in a Story

Students Share Their Connections

Today in Computer Lab the students explored the e-learning tool found on Little Bird Tales.  They created an illustration that showed their connection to a moment in the story Wizard of Oz.  They are simply amazing kindergarten students :)

I look forward to watching them grow and I hope you do too!
