The Gingerbread Baby Reader's Theater Tomorrow!!!

December 18, 2014

Dear Parents and Families,

We will be having our Christmas Reader’s Theater tomorrow, December 19, 2014, at 8:30 a.m.  Our Reader’s Theater is called The Gingerbread Baby. The students will be retelling the story to you using their voice and working together.  I am so proud of them!
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRACTICE LINES TONIGHT!
Most of the students are doing very well, but rereading to tell the story will improve their accuracy and fluency :)

Also I wanted to let you all know that we will be having our Classroom Christmas Party on Monday, December 22, 2014.  The students in my classroom will be shopping at  Mrs. Lieck’s Christmas Store.  They will be looking for gifts for one of their classmates.  We are learning how it is so important to give rather than receive.

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Lieck

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

These little elves were quite excited to trim the tree today :)

Run Run As Fast As You Can!!!

The students listened to two different versions of The Gingerbread Man and compared and contrasted characters in both stories.

Also in both stories, the gingerbread man gets eaten by a fox at the end of the story.  So, the students decided to write a new ending to the story.  Today some of them shared how they would of ended the story if they were the authors :)

We have been working with words in our reading and writing.  Tomorrow I am sending home a game I created for the kids to have fun learning our sight words.  We call it Go Bat! Click on this link to see the game:

You can play this game similar to Go Fish or you could play Concentration or a Matching Game with these sight words.

I have also put these words on my Spelling City site.  Spelling City provides free educational activities to have fun learning words.  Follow the link below to my site:
